In the book of 1 Kings, we read the incredible story of Elijah and the widow. Amid a great famine, the widow had only a small bit of flour and oil to bake for herself and her son before they expected to die. Then, Elijah came knocking, asking for the last of her reserves. What would you have done in that situation?
Recognizing that Elijah was a man of God, the widow gave away the last of her bread, and she and her family were deeply blessed by this decision. We see similar parallels in the lives of the persecuted as well. Given the opportunity to rely on the comforts of this world, many choose to live in penniless and dangerous conditions in order to further the Kingdom.
So today, I challenge you to answer this question: How will you respond if the Lord asks you to give Him everything you have? In both the widow’s story and the lives of the persecuted, we see clearly that you can never out-give God. God bless!
