In the gospel of John, Jesus warns his followers to expect persecution, saying, “If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also.” For many of us in the West, this verse doesn’t connect with our day-to-day lives. However, for believers in oppressive nations, those warnings make perfect sense as they grapple with the reality of daily persecution.
Yet, we can take hope in the assurance that the Lord has never left the church’s side amidst persecution. Despite the enormous forces working against the global church, ranging from powerful governments to Islamic extremism, the church remains.
This Easter, I encourage you to pray for our persecuted brothers and sisters around the world. Pray that the Lord would protect, strengthen, and encourage them through the season of suffering they are walking through. Thank you for your continued care for the suffering church. Happy Easter and God bless.
