Over the past few years, you may have heard Päivi Räsänen’s name in the headlines, as a Finnish Member of Parliament who has come under fire for her faith. We have had the opportunity to interview her a few times, and today she is back to speak with us again.
She explained that, if she were to be convicted, her case would be a tipping point of persecution for her nation. Receiving charges for simply tweeting a Bible verse, the message was clear: Keep your religious opinions out of the public square.
Her case has been a rollercoaster over the past four years and raises a number of questions about the importance of free speech. I hope that you are blessed by this interview and it helps start some important conversations about the value of freedom of religion and speech.
