Today, I want to take a look at the passage in John 12, where Mary anoints the feet of Jesus with perfume from the alabaster jar. The precious alabaster jar is a sealed jar that cannot be accessed unless it is broken. But, defying the opinions of others, she sacrificed the jar and gave generously.
When we experience pain and suffering, our figurative jar breaks, allowing for the sweetness of the Spirit to pour out of us. He is always willing to fill up our jar again, but the fragrance of the Spirit continues to spill out and reach all those we encounter.
So, if you are going through a trial right now, take heart! Consider how the Lord may be using this period of pain to reach others for the Kingdom.
